Mount Abu – A Last-Minute Winter Getaway in Rajasthan

Mount Abu – A Last-Minute Winter Getaway in Rajasthan

One & only hill station in Rajasthan, Mount Abu is located in Aravalli Mountains that offers a gamut of surpassing scenic views, religious sites, and spots for people who’re looking for a romantic escape. Tourists head towards the destination for a pleasant weather to enjoy boating on Nakki Lake and to get rid of the scorching days at their locations or neighboring cities. Do go!

Some of you, dear readers, might be thinking that mostly I share my pleasurable experiences but if you look forward to a break over a period of time & planning to cover top hill stations in India, Mount Abu would comparatively be a mediocre choice. Winters are the best time to visit Mount Abu and highly advised if you really want to feel an arresting chill. Take a sweater along, and remember that nights might be quite cold.

Here, a list of must-go places from plethora of tourist spots in Mount Abu you shouldn’t miss –

  1. Dilwara Jain Temples –

Decorated with extraordinary carvings and hilly surroundings, this temple complex was built before 13th century which consists five Jain temples; Shri Mahaveer Swami Temple, Shri AdiNath Temple, Shri ParshavNath Temple, Shri Rishabdao Temple and Shri NemiNath Temple.

Opening Time: 12:00 PM
Closing Time: 06:00 PM

  1. Nakki Lake –

Associated with an interesting history, Nakki Lake is a major tourist attraction in Mount Abu or I can say the lake posses the crown of being the heart of Mount Abu. The center of attraction tops the list where some of the most photographed scenes include mesmerizing mountains and rocky formations that symbolize this quite cool place.

  1. Guru Shikhar –

A Hindu pilgrimage site located at the highest peak of Aravalli Range, Guru Shikhar is a tourist attraction in Mount Abu that leads them to the top of the mountain. A visit takes at least 2 hours and remember the timings; 9:00 AM to 5:00 in the evening. I recommend reaching early morning and witness the breathtaking sunrise.

  1. Achalgarh Village –

A hamlet in Mount Abu has a beauty that’s enough to attract tourists. It is popular for a medieval monument – Achalgarh Fort and Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple that is famous for having a Nandi which is said to be made of five metals, gold, silver, copper, zinc and brass.

  1. Adhar Devi Temple –

A temple of Goddess Durga or Arbuda is another religious site situated in a cave and just 365 steep stairs away which offers a bird’s eye view of the town. The temple receives a gamut of tourists during the holy season of Navratri has been celebrated once a year and pilgrims from all over to witness this beautiful sight.

  1. Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary –

The oldest part of the hill station is also a home to a fantastic Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary not exclusively for nature lovers while for those who’re looking to make their experience in the forest a different one. The best thing about this untamed sanctuary remains its location – cut off from a level of bustle in Mount Abu.

Mount Abu is undoubtedly the best one in Rajasthan and on the list of best tourist attractions in India. Bordered by Gujarat, the town is easily reachable from any major city and Abu Road is the nearest railway station which is just 30km away. Tourists gave Mount Abu 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor. SAFFRONSTAYS’S RAPID EXPANSION PLAN

SaffronStays: Where Families Bond is a micro-hospitality collective, started in October, 2015 with one home SaffronStays Parsi Manor, Matheran – and has grown exponentially ever since. In a short span of less than 19 months, SaffronStays has clocked over a million USD in revenues and hosted over 6000 families from Mumbai and Pune, who keep coming back to experience the delightful hand-crafted hospitality.

SaffronStays is currently largely operational around Mumbai, Pune, Goa and a few chosen locations in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.  Plans are afoot to rapidly expand to most parts of the country, without compromising on quality of experience offered. Currently, they have 28 homes and plan to onboard 40 exclusive homes (over 200 rooms) very soon. The goal is to have over 2000 homes managed and branded by SaffronStays in the next 5-7 years.

SaffronStays presently has properties in Bhugaon, Murud, Alibaug, Kihim, Dapoli, Mulshi, Matheran, Panchgani, Karjat, Khopoli, Gholvad, Kamshet, Lavasa, Panvel, Goa, Kodaikanal, Ooty, Gwaldham and Jaipur.

Every home goes through a rigorous 100-point checklist before even being considered to join the network, and a rigorous on-boarding process, that involves upgrades to every aspect from tasteful interiors to landscaping, from staffing and their training to technology deployment, to deployment of the processes and methods are undertaken.

Mr. Devendra Parulekar, Co-Founder of SaffronStays, stated “SaffronStays wishes to be the dominant managed vacation rentals company for the discerning Indian traveller.  We will follow the Indian travellers across the world, by offering hand-crafted Indian hospitality in such gorgeous Homes. Now that we have cracked the product-market fit, achieved unit-level and even transaction-level profitability, and also understood all the operational problems associated with the model and figured out the ways to overcome these problems, we think it is time to raise some serious money to rapidly scale the business.  We are looking to raise 20 million USD, to fund these expansion plans.  A large part of the investment raised will be invested in our Technology backbone, expanding our network of exclusive Homes across the world and also establishing a world class brand.”

Ms. Tejas Parulekar, Founder says, “An aspirational, upwardly-mobile traveller today considers a Vacation Rental as a preferred option over traditional Hotels, considering the unique Staycation experience alongside the privacy and exclusivity offered by a heritage or a luxe bungalow, in a stunning countryside estate.”

WHO ARE THEY

Tejas Parulekar: A Chartered Accountant by training and a corporate banker by profession, Tejas made SaffronStays a reality in 2013. During a family trip to Europe, the joy, privacy, and freedom of a home stay gave birth to the idea of a platform that offered the comfort of a home on a holiday. Tejas decided to leave her corporate career and took a plunge into the rough world of start-ups. SaffronStays was then born with the motive of providing an indulging travel experience. The platform as it stands today is the result of her tireless endeavours to fulfill the dream of transforming the hospitality and travel industry in India. This mother of two unstoppable kids is a total foodie, loves swimming, playing basketball and trekking in the monsoons. All this combined with her energy and enthusiasm that she brings to SaffronStays makes her a true inspiration!

Devendra Parulekar: An avid traveler and photographer, Devendra is a management graduate with over 18 years’ experience in the Information Technology Industry. An Ex-Partner and Practice Leader-Cyber Security, India at Ernst & Young, Devendra left his cushioned corporate job in 2016 to pursue the vision of transforming the hospitality and real-estate market in India. His first rendezvous with SaffronStays was as the Chief Investor and Mentor. The initial phase of the firm also saw him code the website to save the start-up from a technology crunch! Although the foundation for their dream had been set by Tejas, Devendra brings his vast experience, leadership skills, and passion to their business to offer unique vacations!

THIS UNION TERRITORY IN INDIA SHOULD BE ON THE BUCKET LIST OF EVERY RESPONSIBLE BOOZER

THIS UNION TERRITORY IN INDIA SHOULD BE ON THE BUCKET LIST OF EVERY RESPONSIBLE BOOZER

We often use a collocation ‘Daman & Diu’ and no doubt both are most appealing destinations located on the India’s western coast but not anywhere near. I would like to make you clear that Diu is about 700 km from Daman by road and no ferry is available to go by sea route yet.

The Fort on Diu Island The Fort on Diu Island, (Reference-mondointasca)

Daman and Diu is one of the seven union territories in India comprising two beautiful districts and major tourist attractions where you can enjoy your weekend so well with your friends or family.

Do you believe you’re a True Whisky Lover?
In case you are staying in a dry state like Gujarat and begin to get itchy feet, these destinations will be the best decision ever because nobody will deny hitting the bottle at the seashore. It may not burn a hole in your pocket as the booze availability at cheaper prices there because this union territory has its own low tax rate for alcohol.

10 MUST-VISIT PLACES THAT’LL MAKE YOU WANT TO GO THERE RIGHT NOW

Diu is more than just a party destination.

1. Nagoa Beach –
The beach has an attraction for water-sport activities with the starting price of Rs.200. You can enjoy Scuba Diving but might be a little expensive. It will be more adventurous if you go parasailing. I recommend you should spend a dawn at Nagoa Beach and be the witness of a lovely sunrise where the couples often share some love under the Hokka Trees.

2. Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple –
The temple is located in the midst of the rocks on the seashore and very famous attraction in Diu.

3. Naida Caves –
This place is, no doubt, synonymous with a photographer’s paradise for sure due to its amazing caves having a brilliant gold and emerald glow.

4. St. Paul Church –
Around 2 km from Naida Caves, this functional church is a good example of baroque architecture style and one of the top churches in Diu.

5. Diu Fort –
This massive Portuguese fort takes more than an hour to see the cannons, the island’s jail & a nice lighthouse.

Daman will never fail to entice you!

1. Devka Beach –
It might be a little filthy beach covered with rocky stones so kindly go, explore but without high expectations, although you can have some cheap booze with hearing the waves crushing.

2. St. Jerome Fort –
The fort has not been maintained properly but still a small attraction for tourists they can enjoy their hours and take few snaps.

3. Jampore Beach –
A kind of boisterous place to taste some non-vegetarian dishes with sips of alcohol, this is one of the best beaches in Daman which offers water sports.

4. Mirasol Lake Garden –
This garden is a prettiest place to hang out with your family or friends and enjoy boating. If any kid/s in your family, they will never forget to insist you to get here on the weekends.

This Roman-styled architecture is a beautiful old shrine which attracts devotees as well as tourists to an extent. If you plan to visit Daman, include this sacred place in your travel itinerary.

TRAVEL SOLO AND FOLLOW THESE ESSENTIAL TIPS

TRAVEL SOLO AND FOLLOW THESE ESSENTIAL TIPS

Trust me, you make a dozen travel plans with your friends in a year and almost all get cancelled due to several convoluted reasons if you’re not lucky enough. It is ironic that although everyone loves to travel and wishes to explore the things but they do not.

Solo travel 1

Come on, guys! You have another best choice to go solo and grow yourself mentally as well as physically. In this way, you can boost your confidence and feel a sense of adventure to a greater extent. Here are 5 essential solo travel tips you should follow for a successful independent journey –

  • Ready with a trip blueprint

You have to be more proactive while travelling solo and a road-map might work as an asset for you. It helps to make you feel relaxed and engage in the enjoyable activities rather than spoiling a couple of hours in a hotel room planning the next. A rough idea must be in your mind or on paper because you have hit the road as a solo traveller and this must be the happiest experience ever.

  • Get assistance from local people

You will surely get that level of guidance you might not be expecting or have not read in any of the blogs earlier and the best memories come from the streets of the city where local people start telling you the real stories about the place. Sometimes, you meet travellers from another group and they share their travel itinerary that works for you to design or modify your plans. Eventually, you realize the importance
of assistance from locals or co-travellers.

  • Travelling solo means you ain’t alone

Undoubtedly, you have a missionary zeal and it has certainly proved as you decided to see the world alone. You never really travel alone. The world is full of friends waiting to get to know you.

“TRAVELLING ALONE IS THE SINGLE BEST GIFT YOU CAN GIVE YOURSELF.”

Solo travel 2

  • Travel light and eat fresh

A long journey makes a solivagant exhausted and definitely when the person travels with a heavy rucksack or two so this may be a nice suggestion that you should carry a light-weight backpack and go explore everything. Also, the excitement around a trip can easily fade away if you don’t give enough attention to your health so whatever you eat must be fresh and nutritious while travelling.

  • Update your destinations with loved ones

It is vital to update your travel plans including the destinations, hotel addresses and journey dates with loved ones. You cannot say confidently that everything will be fine when you travel solo because if something badly hit you during the trip, the only you will be there to be brave and tough enough to deal with an unpleasant situation. You remember, be positive in any circumstances.
